AGM Linebacker and I will bring the pain.

I'm a sports fanatic. I hail from Nelson County Virginia, and thats where I learned to be a Virginia Cavalier fan. I also learned to be a Dallas Cowboys fan because I hated how good the Redskins were doing. I've played sports at almost every level with the exception of being a fulltime professional, as a result I have a great perception on the sporting world. I love to talk sports and I've never been shy to share my opinion with someone.

Alexander Ovechkin Celebrates Historic Goal

Alexander Ovechkin is quickly becoming the most popular and most hated player in the NHL, in the short term that is great for the league. His amazing goals and big hits bring publicity to the league which is something the NHL desperately needs. Adding to the publicity craze is Ovechkin's recent run in with flamboyant analyst Don Cherry who swears the young star is too flash and too over the top. Pretty impressive coming from a guy who wears suits that would make Dion Sanders blush.

After scoring his 50th goal of the season on Thursday night, Ovechkin decided to have a little fun, I wonder what Cherry has to say about this.

Can't say enough about how good a player he is. But his act gets old fast.

Much ado about nothing. If he did this every goal or lots of players did this sort of celebration all the time I think I would tire of it. For now it's right in line with some of the other goal celebrations I remember. But I still hate him and will now refer to him as Ocho.

On the whole, I have no problem with Ove, I love his usual celebrations because they come across and enthusiastic and random, which is good. He is a young kid who loves the game so I like that. I enjoyed this celebration as well, but I do not wish to see him make a habit of TO like celebrations On the flip side hockey is a sport like rugby where if you dont like something a player is doing, then the players on the ice can clean it up in the loose. That is the all important judge and jury not Don Cherry and his anti-everything Canada ways

I'm just glad it happened in Tampa's barn and not at the Bell centre or the ACC, it would of have become the never ending controversy. Screw Don Cherry and what he thinks, he loves the underdogs and nothing else. If you are a fan of hockey how can you vilify a young man who takes nothing but pure joy for a game he loves? That particular celebration was a little on the lame side but oh well he had fun we had fun lets move on.

I think Don Cherry, Mike Milbury, and Rick Tocchet are the only people upset about this. Milbury was going on and on about during one of yesterdays intermissions for the Suday game. It seemed like he was reaching for reasons why it was so appauling, and at one point he said it was every time he scores. I'm more tired of hearing "this is what separates hockey from the other major NA sports". You know what else separates hockey from the rest of the sports Milbury? Profits.
