According to US Prosecutors Barry Bonds Tested Positive for Steroids in 2001

After breaking the single season home run record and career home run record we now find out Barry Bonds tested positive for steroids back in 2001!?! Why wasn't he punished then? Why have thousands of dollars been spent in court over an issue that could have been settled 7 years ago?

This information should have been released years ago and Hank Aaron should have remained home run king while Bonds served his respective suspensions for the violation. The fact he then lied to a Grand Jury in 2003 about it means he probably should have served jail time also, leading me to believe that between jail terms and a hopefully large suspension, we would still have the rightful home run king today, Hank Aaron.

Either Bud Selig is the single most clueless individual on the face of the earth or simply thought he could ignore this issue that will now OFFICIALLY tarnish MLB record books forever. I think most people realized this problem existed years ago, most think Bonds did take steroids, but now we find that proof existed before this debate should have ever come up.

I added a post to the Locker Room also, http://www.armchairgm.com/Lockerroom:Barry_Bonds_Tested_Positive_For_Steroids_in_2001..._and_we_find_out_now%3F

Hank Aaron isn't the rightful HR King. He played in the greenies era and hit many of his HR off of expansion teams and had 8 extra games per season to do it.

Babe Ruth isn't the HR king either because he played when there were no African Americans in baseball and marijuana was legal, whie bennies were rampant. Plus pitchers in his era preferred to make the batters put the ball in play instead of striking guys out so they could pitch 50 times a season. Plus he didn't have night games to worry about.

Roger Connor isn't the champ either, because he played when cocaine was legal and in fact commonplace in society plus spitballs were legal and the balls were made differently and there was no American League yet.

Harry Stovey was a stinky jerk.

So, Big Dan Brouthers is the rightful HR King!!!

Breaking News, Blythe, California, August, 2002 Barry Bonds today set the California Penal League single season homerun record set in 1974 by Charles Manson. Bonds homer, a two run shot off former Penal League All Star Rick "Wild Thing" Vaughan, completely left the prison yard, thus ending the game in the top of the sixth inning.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Federal prosecutors mistakenly filed court papers Thursday that incorrectly stated that Barry Bonds failed a steroids test in November of 2001 -- one month after breaking the single-season home run mark.

U.S. attorney spokesman Josh Eaton now says that the reference in Thursday's government court filing regarding Bonds testing positive was actually referring to a November 2000 test that was previously disclosed in the indictment of Bonds and had already been reported.

In December, Bonds pleaded not guilty to lying to a federal grand jury in 2003 when he denied using performance-enhancing drugs.

The mistake prompted a flurry of reports on television and Web sites -- including ESPN.com -- around the country.
