The Four Horseman: QB Harry Stuhldreher, halfbacks Jim Crowley and Don Miller, and FB Elmer Layden.

Are you sure KD? My research (I don't know so I looked it up) has Arnold Tucker, Tom McWilliams and Heisman Trophy winners Doc Blanchard (Mr. Inside) and Glenn Davis (Mr. Outside). They were 27-0-1 in in 1944-1946 and this backfield had 3 national titles.

It was a fairly easy search by the way. Just type 1946 Army Backfield in a "Word that rhymes with strudel" window.

I thought the Four Horsemen were with the Irish, but I couldn't remember. Wasn't that match-up between ND and Army in 1946 one of the many "Games of the Century"?
