The Pats won. That is great. It is one of the most difficult things to do in sports, and I give them credit. But I have a few thoughts on it.

Will the Patriots go 19-0?
Will the Patriots go 19-0?

1. They have looked beatable over the last few weeks.

- The blueprint has been drawn up, leaving it wide open for anyone with the personnel to come in and give them 'what-for'. Remember, their opponents record is 101-95 (112-129 if you count the Jets, Bills and Dolphins twice) and they have only played 7 games against teams over .500. To top it off, their division is one of the bottom in the league (Again they play the Jets, Bills and Dolphins twice). Tom Brady and Randy Moss are great, but they will have some tough competition coming up.

2. 16-0 is amazing and it helps to shut up the '72 Dolphins, but it means nothing without hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.

- It is wonderful to see a team pull something off that hasn't happened in 35 years, but really if they don't win it all the "perfect" season will be overshadowed by their collapse.

3. Their toughest opponent in the playoffs will be Jacksonville.

- The way it is shaping up right now, the Pats will face either the Titans or the Jaguars in the second round of the playoffs. If they draw the Jags, they better watch out. We have seen elite backs run on them this year and the one-two punch of Taylor and Jones-Drew may be too much for them.

I know this is biased, but hey, who isn't? I appreciate their win, and I appreciate their prowess as the best team in the history of the NFL, but I won't sing their praises until they go 19-0.

Until that happens, then they are just another #1 seed.

was I too biased? I have a feeling that the hordes of Pats fans on this site will rip me a new one for being honest as a fan of a team OTHER then the New Englanders.

Honestly, though, it is honesty and the team has some work to do. Best teams coming up, more pressure and one-and-done.

They are (so far) the greatest team in NFL History.

Biased, shmiased. If they don't win it all they will have choked. Regular season doesn't mean anything. All you have to do is get to the playoffs...either undefeated or at .500. Steelers weren't quite as bad as .500 the year they won but all that matters is that ring. Don't get me wrong 16-0 is a hell of an acheivement but I don't believe its more impressive than a Super Bowl victory.

As a Patriots fan, I'm not the least bit offended. Winning the Super Bowl is what I really want as a fan. Going undefeated is merely a sidenote. An impressive sidenote, but still a sidenote.

It's nice to see the other side of the argument. I think that during Boston Love Fest 2007, the fact that there are people and opinions west of Springfield gets lost in the shuffle. Be biased all you want, we know they won't show any apology for being that way.

"1. They have looked beatable over the last few weeks.

- The blueprint has been drawn up,"

What blueprint? Do you know what a blueprint is? It's an exact, detailed layout of a structure, design or building. But the Pats haven't been beaten, so who laid to the blueprint? The only blueprint that has been laid, is the blueprint to stay competitive. Moreover, even if there was a blueprint, you would still need all the right players to put it into place.

There is NO blurprint, handout, instruction manuel, gamewinners.com cheat codes or secret Free Masonic ways to be the patriots. Someone is going to have to go out there, play a perfect game, hope the Pats make a few mistakes, get a lil lucky and maybe then the Pats will be beaten. But tonight they showed again that even if you bring your best game and the Patriots bring their worse game they still can beat you.

As much as I hate to lay the blame on him because he played an amazing game, Eli Manning's interception was ultimately what cost them the game. They hung with the Pats the entire game and probably should have won, but the interception allowed the Pats the 10-point lead and that was enough.

Actually a blueprint is: "a detailed outline or plan of action: a blueprint for success."

They have lost in different areas of the game and none of the teams they have played have been able to capitalize. But now there is 16 games of film, (a blueprint) that shows their weakness. They are now going in to the playoffs, facing teams that are a lot better then what they have played the last few weeks (they alomst lost to the Jests and the Ravens...)

There is a blueprint out there for how to beat them.

And The Giants aren't a good measuring stick. Everyone knows how to beat them...rattle Eli...and the Pats did that.

Again, I am not trying to take anything away from them, but they are beatable.

there is no blueprint to follow to beat them if no one has made the blueprint to beat them, you know since their 16-0 and all. Teams have found spots where they're weak, but there is nothing I can point to and say "See, we can beat them and this is how you do it." Watch all the films, and they all end with the Pats winning. Even if you could combine all the films and make 1 gameplan to beat them if wouldn't work because it's based on 12 different sets of players whose abilities, talents and skills won't match 1 teams, so they couldn't implement your so called "blueprint" anyway, even if there was one.

you make a valid point, but we will have to agree to disagree.

We saw the plan that the Giants had at the beginning of the game and it worked...they went away from it.

Look, I think the minds that are in the NFL are so much brighter and intuitive then a bunch of bloggers (minus Cam Cameron *burn*) and they will be able to piece something together.

We all know that each game is about match-ups, and I firmly believe that the match-ups they will see from the teams in the playoffs, as well as the game-planning will be better then that of the ones during the rgular season.

Also, they may all END with the Pats winning, but again that is because they are able to outlast teams like the Jets, Ravens and Giants. I believe the Jags will give them a run for their money.

I love buzz words and cliches...

On top of that, like you said, 7 out of the 16 games they won were against teams over .500. If they're struggling to beat the Ravens and Giants, what's going to happen if they face a team like the Colts? Good article.

They did face a team like the Colts. And won 24-20. They also beat the Cowboys 48-27. The last few games have been like the 2001-2005 Pats. They play a really close game, capitalize on the very few mistakes that the other team makes, and pull out a win in he end. They may give fans a heart attack on the way to winning, but they find a way to make it happen.

Afraid, the Patriots have ONLY played against 7 teams with winning records? Is that a small number? Their division schedule was a joke, but outside of the division they played some pretty good teams. They beat the #2 team in the AFC on the road. They beat the #1 team in the NFC on the road. They crushed Pittsburgh, San Diego, Washington, and Cleveland. I'd say their schedule was a solid one.

If the Patriots win the Super Bowl this year, I have no problem saying that they are the best team of all time. The '72 Dolphins were undefeated, we all know this... but the Patriots would have done it for more games played and in a much tougher time where both players and coordinators are much more talented while dealing with the modern day media... For now the '72 Miami squad is the best of all time, but the '07 Pats will likely pass them on this list...

Looking at nothing other than record is a bit simplified, don't ya think. The patriots, for one, seem to think that 16-0 means nothing if they don't win the superbowl. The record could almost be disregarded by that logic. I think a case can be made for a number of superbowl winning teams. To me, that would be the only concrete criteria. Then you would have to look at a number of other factors. I also don't think there is a definite answer. It will just be a barroom debate for ever.
