Art Tait (Arthur William Tait) was born on February 8, 1929 in Memphis, Tennessee. After going to high school at Central (Memphis, TN), Tait attended Mississippi State University. Tait made his professional debut in the NFL in 1951 with the New York Yanks. He played for the Dallas Cowboys and New York Yanks over the course of his 2 year career.

Most people believe that 1951 was Art Tait's best year, as he ran back 2 fumbles for touchdowns.
