Art Shamsky (Arthur Louis Shamsky) was born on October 14, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri. He made his Major League debut on April 17, 1965 for the Cincinnati Reds. In 1966, his rookie year, he hit .231 with 21 home runs and 47 RBI. Shamsky played for the Cincinnati Reds, New York Mets and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 8 year career.

Most people believe that Art Shamsky's best season was 1970, when he hit for a .293 average.
