Art Mergenthal (Arthur Mergenthal) was born on March 21, 1921 in Bellevue, Kentucky. After going to high school at St. Xavier (Cincinnati, OH), Mergenthal attended Bowling Green State University, the University of Notre Dame, the University of Tennessee and Xavier University. Mergenthal made his professional debut in the NFL in 1945 with the Cleveland Rams. He played for the Los Angeles Rams and Cleveland Rams over the course of his 2 year career.
