Born on June 4, 1938 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Art Mahaffey (Arthur Mahaffey) played for the Philadelphia Phillies and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 7 year career. Mahaffey broke into the bigs on July 30, 1960 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 2.31 ERA in 93.1 innings pitched in 1960, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Art Mahaffey's best season was 1962, when he posted a 3.94 ERA, won 19 games and struck out 177 batters.
