Born on March 10, 1906 in Altus, Oklahoma, Art Herring (Arthur L. Herring) played for the Detroit Tigers, Brooklyn Dodgers, Chicago White Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 11 year career. Herring broke into the bigs on September 12, 1929 with the Detroit Tigers, and put up a 5.33 ERA in 77.2 innings pitched in 1930, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Art Herring's best season was 1946, when he posted a 3.35 ERA.
