Born on July 3, 1922 in Converse, South Carolina, Art Fowler (John Arthur Fowler) played for the Cincinnati Reds, Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels over the course of his 9 year career. Fowler broke into the bigs on April 17, 1954 with the Cincinnati Reds, and put up a 3.83 ERA in 227.2 innings pitched in 1954, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Art Fowler's best season was 1963, when he posted a 2.42 ERA, notched 10 saves and struck out 53 batters.
