Art Fletcher (Arthur Fletcher) was born on January 5, 1885 in Collinsville, Illinois. He made his Major League debut on April 15, 1909 for the New York Giants. In 1911, his rookie year, he hit .319 with 1 home run and 37 RBI. Fletcher played for the New York Giants and Philadelphia Phillies over the course of his 13 year career.

Most people believe that Art Fletcher's best season was 1913, when he stole 32 bases, hit for a .297 average and knocked in 71 runs.
