Arsenal's Demise?

by Rohandevgan

No one can quite figure out what exactly the Arsenal management is trying. Having just moved to the new Emirates Stadium fans surely would have been expecting a title contention season, however that can't be ruled out, but looking at their transfer season, it doesn't seem likely. Last season they lost Pires, Vieira, Wiltord and brought in Baptista who hasn;t done much so far. This season the club has let Henry and Aliadiere go and now even Ljungberg. The only replacement they have got in is striker Da Silva. Surely the board can't expect to be title contenders if this is what they are going to do. This may just be a nervous season for Arsenal Fans.

Not that I care. Manchester United will run right through the league again (lose to arsenal twice).

I really don't know what Arsenal are doing. I think they're trying to start off fresh and young. It seems weird to do it now, though. Why not sell Henry after last year when his value was higher? As a supporter, I'm not looking forward to a very fun season. Although, you never know. Arsenal can always pull a trick or two out of their bag. But that's pretty much our only hope to win a trophy this upcoming season.

gonna have to agree with SS there, Man U won the league last year and added aloooot of talent, the title is theirs to lose. Arsenals plan is apparently to let the young guys play. Van Pierse does start for the Dutch team, they probably think Adebayor is ready and maybe even Walcott. In the midfield don't forget they did bring in Rosicky, to go along with Fabregas, Hleb, Flamini, and Gilberto. They probably won't touch Man U but there will still be European Football for the Gunners

My god, you're agreeing with me? Anyway, Arsenal will probably finish 4th or 5th behind Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, and my darkhorse in Reading.

I am an Arsenal supporter, and I don't think the team is in that bad of shape. I think Da Silva will turn out to be a savvy signing. RVP was well on his way to 20 goals last season before the injuries. The kids have some experience. I think that they will be OK. I am not in panic mode. The people who think Tottenham are going to be title contenders and break the Top Four are raving loonies.

Arsenal will be very competitive this season, but it's difficult to see them securing a place in the top 4 of the EPL. With ManU and Liverpool likely to be the class of the league, with Chelsea rounding out the top three, Arsenal will have to battle Tottenham, Reading for fourth place. Of the three, Tottenham has the best combination of talent, experience and stability (compared to last year's) roster. I see Arsenal battling hard all year, but finishing either fifth or sixth in the league.

why are people seeing Reading in the top 6 or so in the league. last year they had a brilliant run but so did wigan in their first season. Reading have also let some top players go such as Sidwell, maybe even shorey and hunt.

I don't understand why everyone is all of a sudden touting Liverpool for great things. Unless Torres lives up to his transfer fee (which I doubt), I don't think they are that much improved from last season. Steven Gerrard is their only player who would be in the starting XI for Man U, Chelsea, and even Arsenal. They will play themselves out of the title the first two months.

Aresenal are getting rid of all the old players, btw baptista did help them, at first he was a loan from real madrid but now im guessing he's staying. Henry wasn't getting paid that much so he left. Aresnal will become strong but will take abit of time. Im glad realmadrid doing amazing this year.

You won't recognize Arsenal this year -- they're stronger at every position, except where Kolo, Jens and Gilberto play. That's what happens when very you playters start to mature into men. What other team can say that? All you people equate big spending with success -- Chelsea is successful because of Mourinho, first, the money second; Liverpool will not be successful because their manager has shown he doesn;t know how to win the league

I fail to c how they are stronger up front Adebayor is highly over rated so is baptista Henry is irreplaceable though it remains to be seen what Silva can do. Rosicky is strong but I dont see them pushing the top teams. I think ronaldo and rooney are both maturing very well considering their selfishness earlier. Kuszack is an exceptional keeper as a back up and their mid field is world class.

I think you run the risk of bad things happening when you count out a team like Arsenal before the season has started. As a United fan I remember someone famous saying, "You'll never win anything with kids." The kids he was talking about were Giss, Scholes, Beckham and the Neville Brothers. United went on to be the team of the 90s in the prem. Certainly Fabregas, Rosicky and Walcott have the talent to be big stars and add some vitality to an ageing squad who were only really at their best aginst United last season. I am confident that the spending that United have done will stand us in good stead for the 2007 and 2008 season wether or not the Tevez deal goes through. I am just very wary of counting out any sleeping giants--Liverpool included.

i am probably the most cautious of supporters who will never under estimate any team in the league obviously they are good enough to make it to that stage, however i dont c arsenal contending or front runners for the title this year at least. may be a little later.

I agree that Arsenal probably won't do anything this year. Really, they haven't been the same team since Viera left. The only way I see them doing anything is if Fabregas can boss the midfeld a la Kean or Viera. He's no where near as good as those 2 midfiels generls yet, but it only takes a few games to decide the title. My hope of hopes is that United lift the Champions League Trophy next year along with the League title. Saying that, if it had to be one or the other I would tale the prem every time.

arsenal arent as badly off as most people make them ot to be we finished 4th in the league last year with alot of players missing time and the only true contributer that we lost this offseason is henry who himself was out for extended periods of time..now i love henry (he is my favorite player by far) and think he is one of the greatest strikers of all time let alone now but last year he did not do much for arsenal on the pitch so his loss while big is not nearly as big as some make it out to be

I think Arsenal will surprise this year. I look for big things from Robin Van Persie, he is the main man up front now and I think he will be up for it. Both Freddy and Thierry missed big stretches last season so the team already knows it can compete without them. C'MON THE ARSENAL!
