Arsenal's Addition by Subtraction

Clearly Arsenal have made an exceptional start to the Premier League season. The club has earned 16 points from 6 games and sit 2 points ahead of Manchester United for the top spot. Pretty amazing stuff when considering that many pundits felt that Arsenal where ripe for the picking this season. One of the main reasons many felt this way was of course the move of super striker Thierry Henry to Barcelona. It seems the departure of Henry has allowed some of the club's other players to blossom on the pitch.
Midfielder Cesc Fabregas seems to back this up by telling the Daily Mail, "Henry intimidated us. He is a great player but it was not easy to play alongside him. We were a bit inhibited by him - dependent on everything he wanted to do and his demands. Now it is different."
So the departure of one of the world's best players has effectively allowed the remaining players to step up and improve their game, allowed them to play a more natural and uninhibited type of football. The players seem motivated to prove that the loss of Henry was not going to see the club drop down the table. In fact the opposite has happened and to be honest the way the Gunners are playing right now it is an absolute joy to watch.
Up next is Newcastle in the Carling Cup in midweek, with all the youngsters already in the first team it will be interesting to see who Arsene Wenger will select to play.
