Born on July 5, 1931 in New York, New York, Arnie Portocarrero (Arnold Mario Portocarrero) played for the Philadelphia Athletics, Kansas City Athletics and Baltimore Orioles over the course of his 7 year career. Portocarrero broke into the bigs on April 18, 1954 with the Philadelphia Athletics, and put up a 4.06 ERA in 248 innings pitched in 1954, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Arnie Portocarrero's best season was 1958, when he posted a 3.25 ERA, won 15 games and struck out 90 batters.
