Yes, you can still join if you haven't already... unlimited seats available, Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays through April of 2008 (when the World is going to end anyway) but beware the rules:
This is the beginning of the 2007 APL (ArmchairGM.com Prediction League®) - a Fantasy League for People who have no touch with Reality® (meaning: ArmchairGM members only)
Statistics will be kept throughout the season and the Champion at the end of the Playoffs will be deemed
Armchairadamus I, the Lucky Bastard
(In the off chance someone gets every prediction correct, we will call them One Scary Person... A Very Scary Assed Person)
There are only two rules to joining the ArmchairGM Prediction League®:
- You need a team name
- You must compete every week or will face Unbearable Torment®
And yes, you can talk about APL to people not in APL as long as you realize those people will think you're a total dork. Any harm that may occur to you caused by such encounters are fully deserved.
Results may vary and not for internal use only.
Here's how it works (again version)
In case you missed it the first time
Here's APL Preseason Week 1
a
Three predictions, no spread. You choose the winner only! Remember, just put the winner's name next to a value of 1, 2 or 3 points, using each value only once. Here's the available NFL matchups to choose from (no bitching about which games are available):
(If you don't know what the abbreviations mean, you can't play.)
- SD v. ARI
- TAM v. MIA
- NYJ v. NYG
- SF v. CHI
- BAL v. WAS
- MIN v. SEA
- CLE v. DEN
- DAL v. HOU
- DET v. IND
- PHI v. PIT

This is the section where you'd pick a player for their Yahoo fantasy stats x .10.
But no fantasy stats are worth a damn in preseason, so we'll do this:
Pick any team listed above as the team you think will score the most points.
You then will recieve their score x .10 towards your total.

The Three (I, II, III) wildcard predictions (valued 1, 2 or 3 points, your choice) are as follows (remember, this is a Prediction League, not a Guessing League)
I - Who will score more runs in the Padres - Phillies series this weekend? (tie breakers: who wins more games - in case of a rainout, a descending order of hits, total bases, pitches faced and if neccessary, which home market TV station got a higher combined ratings)
II - Pick a Senior PGA golfer in this weekend's Boeing Greater Seattle Classic . If your pick finishes within the top 4 (Four), you are correct. Tied for Fourth does NOT count, Fourth place all by itself does - I like to give fourth a little love, but it's still not a ribbonplace.
OK, here's a link to help you a bit, sissies...
III - Who will be taken 4th (fourth) in Kelsdad's Fantasy Football draft on Sunday (Kelsdad drafts 5th)?
Remember to assign these values of 1, 2 or 3 (like section a)
This is a PRESEASON exercise, no scoring will count except for comprising a value as to how cool you are compared to the other kids.
Happy Predicting! You have until Thursday evening 12:00 MST to make your entries (feel free to stand back and watch THIS ROUND ONLY) next week begins the real deal (even though it's Pre-Season too)
Add your team name first, then your choices as such in comments
like so....
(it time stamps it for you in comments):
Manny Stiles' Gang of Weird Shift Buttons:
SD3, PHI2, DET1 - DAL - PHI3, Peyton Manning2, Tom Kite1
Don't worry, by midseason, you will get the hang of it. Also, feel free to throw in a random Off-the-Wall prediction of your own for "Extra Credit"... this IS the ArmchairGM.com Prediction League hosted by Dr. Commento, not like those whack Prediction Leagues hosted by a unisexual schlep, after all...

TAM v. MIA NYJ CHI BAL SEA CLE HOU DET PIT
Phils will score more runs.
