The following players didn't make it? Lou Gerhig, Jimmie Fox, Ted Williams, George Brett, Stan Musial, Honus Wagner, Joe Dimaggio, Mickey Mantle, Ty Cobb, Hank Aaron, Frank Robinson, Roberto Clemente, Paul Molitor, Cy Young, Nolan Ryan, Sandy Koufax????? I appreciate your hard work, but this Hall of Fame left out most of the greatest players of any era. Quite a failure in my opinion.

Yeah, speaking as someone who tried one of these things myself, I have to say that a system that includes no starting pitchers, plus none of the greats that Patrick mentioned, is broken. There just aren't enough voters right now; we probably should table the AGM HoF idea until either we come up with a better voting method, or until the site gets more users.

I don't care that some of those guys didn't get in, but look who was AHEAD of them!!! Ryan more votes than Koufax? Lee Smith more than Fingers? DiMaggio more than Mantle AND Cobb? I wish I cared enough to 'write' these wrongs...

Manny - I agree with you there except for 1 thing - Lee Smith SHOULD have gotten more votes than Fingers - just for the simple fact Smith was more of a dominant reliever than Fingers and oh yeah, Smith IS the all-time saves leader..... at least for now.

The # of Saves you record is NOT a good measurement of how dominant you were. Factors out of the pitchers control contribute to save opportunities. Otherwise Bobby Thigpen had the most dominant season as a reliever EVER! The real Hall has it right with Fingers, in and Smith, out (but WRONG on Gossage)

After the NFL one was done, very few people voted, many people complained with the process, and yet we are following the same process with NBA and MLB. We should be patient and wait until we get more votes or a better system is thought of. In fact, I think we have enough voters, but noone is interested to vote because the induction method has many flaws as pointed out in prior opinions discussing this issue

What's sad is that, if you look at the LF section, you'll see that Ted Williams was the #1 choice for everyone that did vote (5 people) - but since he did not make the min 57 points, I could not include him in the hall.

I agree with you all on that the Hall of Fame voting for all sports does need some to work... I don't think that it's a matter of not enough people on the site - I think that we have more than an adequete (sp) number of members for voting... however, it's very possible that it could be just a matter of the voting page not on the front page long enough... with all of these opinions & news articles that are written, the voting page could easily get lost in the shuffle and most people don't do a 'next' to look at previous stuff... Next time, if there is a next time (there should be IMO), if all the HoF voting pages were permanently listed on the main page, there will be more votes & quiet possibly the players that SHOULD make it - will...

Also, I've seen in some previous discussions that whenever there is a new vote, if a player made it the first time around but doesn't make it the 2nd time around, that player should be removed from the HoF - personally, I think that will be just wrong... if they're in there, then they should stay... if that player is on someone's list, then those votes should not count due to they are already in... but that's just me...

1. If Ted Williams was the #1 choice for everyone that voted and he didnt make it, then there's obviously something wrong with the voting process, so it should be changed going forward. 2. We can't just "put it on the main page". The users determine which articles go on the main page, based on the number of votes/comments something receives. One user cant just determine on their own that the armchairgm hall of fame is the most important article and should be permamnetly there. Since you started the MLB one, demonboy, you should have done other things to get people aware of it, like a) put it in on the community portal page, and b) put messages on user's talk pages (especially users that write MLB article) to vote on it.

Last time I saw, it was/is in the Community Portal page... but yes, you are correct to a point - I should have done more to 'promote' the page... but, I don't mean to make excuses - work has been getting in the way quiet a bit lately... since early Aug, I have been 'living out of a suitcase'... working in an unfamilar area from 5am until 10-11pm... however, in the future, I will be thinking of a way to make the voting proccess better - if anyone has any ideas please send me a message...

How about reducing the votes needed to get in? Make it about 40 for position players and 20 for pitchers.

Can't really do that either... for instance, using 40 for positional - Gary Carter would have still missed by 5, Stan Musial would have missed by 5, Brooks Robinson still would have been missed, Yaz too along with Mickey Mantle (by 1) & Ty cobb by 3... pitchers - that may be ok... the whole process still needs to be tweeked a bit though...
