ArmchairGM Hall of Fame MLB Pioneers Voting

The ArmchairGM Hall of Fame voting is now closed. Players in bold are in the Hall of Fame. Only 2 people voted in this category - therefore, there are not enough votes to induct anyone. However, at a later time, I will reopen the voting for this category. Here are the current results:

The ArmchairGM MLB Hall of Fame Poll can be voted upon by any member of the AGM Community. All a user needs to do is rank the top 10 best players at each position using the above navigator. These players must be retired players; length of retirement is not an issue

  1. Abner Doubleday - intevented baseball. This should be automatic.
  2. Tom Yawkey
  3. Cumberland Posey - Managed then became owner of the Homstead Grays - Nergo Leagues one of the most successful teams.
  4. Bill Veeck - he introduced the concept of honoring fans, a midget player (Eddie Gaedel), Bat Day, fireworks, exploding scoreboards and player names on backs of uniforms. He signed the American League's first black player - Larry Doby in 1947 - and its oldest rookie - 43-year-old Satchel Paige in 1948.
  5. Kenesaw Mountain Landis - Baseball's 1st commissioner. Offical title of each years league MVP award is the "Kenesaw Mountain Landis Award".
  6. Charlie Cominskey
  7. Alexander Cartwright - The "father" of modern baseball. Played a key role in formalizing the first published rules of the game, including the concept of foul territory, the distance between bases, three-out innings, and the elimination of retiring baserunners by throwing batted baseballs at them.
  8. Larry MacPhail - Introduced night baseball.
  9. Ed Barrow - Created the infamous baseball team known as the New York Yankees.
  10. Branch Rickey - Invented the modern farm system, promoting a new way of training and developing players. Later with the Brooklyn Dodgers, he pioneered the utilization of baseball statistics

When all voting is complete, points will be added to see where the players rank overall agaisnt other players of the same . A first place vote is worth 10 points, a second place vote worth 9, third place worth 8, and so on. These polls will be open through September 1st.

All players or managers with a score equal to the number of participants * 3 or higher will be inducted into the ArmchairGM Hall of Fame.
