I would like to take a moment of time to thank ArmchairGM, and its users for changing my life forever. Yes, I am serious dead serious. Because if it were not for ArmchairGM, I would not be who I am today, or able to do what I do today for a living, and I am forever thankful for that opportunity that was granted to me by the Chair.
A little over a year ago, I was a little voice ranting and raving about the wide world of sports from my broken down soapbox I called a blog and a website. Rant and rant I did, but few if anyone ever heard me. Occasionally someone would stumble upon me by accident, and quickly navigate away from my page. And then out of nowhere I was sent an email asking me to join an online sporting community. A real community of sports fans who loved to rant and rant and talk as if they were the kings of the world just like I do.
It was heaven.
Well, throughout the pass year, I have posted and posted rants and raves and rugby updates (National Championship this weekend), and some have listened while others scoff it off as the musing of a lunatic. All the while it never bothered me because I was being heard. More importantly I was learning.
During my time at the Chair I have watched it grow from a few bloggers chatting back and forth, into a semi-corporate conglomerate. A lot has changed, the site has grown, new features, new faces. Some changes have been better than others, but nonetheless they have all made the Chair a better place.
Throughout this whole time I was sitting in Washington DC, running my stone company, hating my job like most people do, always wishing I could spend more time online with fellow bloggers. Well, about a month ago I ran that stone company into the ground (as I predicted I would here on the Chair) and I was let go. So there I sat in my apartment with my cat, and no income wondering where to go and what to do.
Then again an opportunity showed itself for me. Online Community Specialist. Help build an online community that will mutually benefit bloggers and businesses. Strange concept I know. But I’ll be damned, it works. TheNewsRoom.com hired me and gave me a chance, and it was all because of my time spent on the Chair.
I could not be happier. I just want to thank the ArmchairGM and everyone associated with it for this opportunity. And because of that, I will continue to bring you guys great videos like this.
