Good morning (unless you're not in the Western Hemisphere, in which case, Good afternoon)!
(Yes, this should be a locker room, but... eh. Keep it here.)
You've probably noticed that there are a group of new features on the 'chair today. I'm going to walk you through some of them.
Friending and Foeing
It's our twist on the social networking sites you all know and love/loathe. It's easy to do:
- If the person is an ArmchairGMer, go to their user page and click "Friend me" or "Foe me", whichever you prefer.
- If not, click "invite friends" or "invite foes". You'll be prompted to dump a whole bunch of people into our easy-invite tool, but if you don't want to do it that way, you can click "Invite Your Friends" on the page you'll be brought to, and you can do it by hand. So, yes, you could send a foe-request to, say, Bud Selig, but I don't really think that's nice.
If you go to your page that lists your friends/foes, you can un-friend and un-foe people.
Gifts
We've had a lot of users giving awards to others. Now you can do it in an easier way. Just go to a user page and click "Give a Gift" and go from there.
If you go to your gifts page, you can delete gifts.
Your New User Page
It's now called "your profile" and it's accessible from the box on the right side.
A few features:
- Automatically outputs your latest opinions and stats
- Automatically publishes a personalized record of your latest site activity
- Shows your friends, foes, and gifts
- Has a group of info you can add in -- your name, location, hometown, birthday. Click the update link (or go here) to change it. You can also make it so the site will notify you when you get friend requests and gifts. (I recommend it)
Where'd my old user page go?
Well, it's still there, underneath, but you should blank it. Why? Because it's now at UserWiki:Yourname -- e.g. UserWiki:DNL. Yes, we know, fan boxes are a bit hidden, but we'll make them less so later on. Just wait!
What's this "your home" thing?
Well, check it out.
The main section is a version of Site Scout for your friend's activity. You can also get to your friends, foes, gifts, edits, and challenges quickly, and there are links to do things like invite more friends.
Share the 'chair!
On just about every page, there's a quick link to share the chair with your friends. It's a generic invitation link... but there's an even cooler thing:
You can now email our your articles to your friends when you write them.
Seriously, try it out -- create an opinion and you'll see. It's a good way to let your off-site friends know that you wrote something they may like.
And you can invite friends to rate stuff, edit stuff, etc.... you'll see.
Questions? Comments? Concerns? Leave it in the comments!
