Are You Ready for Some Football?

Hey, guess what? We are only less than 24 hours away from watching Monday Night football…One day close to Monday Night from Sunday Night. I’m sorry, I can’t get those FREAKING ESPN commercials out of my head. I don’t know why…They’ve only BEEN ON THE AIR SINCE APRIL! So Monday Night enters the era of NU Sckoll priorities by moving over to cable for the first time in history. Will this really help in bringing back the hype which used to surround this annual Monday Night spectacular…Most likely not.

So you move this game from ABC to ESPN, for what reason is beyond me? Isn’t this one in the same company? Let Al Michaels & John Madden fly the coup over to NBC and replace them with Mike Trico, Joe Theismann, and Tony Kornheiser? I thought by moving the game to a “different” network was supposed to help. Trico, I don’t have a problem with…It’s the other two numskulls I have questions with. With Theismann first of we get a guy who doesn’t know how to pronounce his name properly for well over 20 years…That was a great Heisman campaign your senior season in South Bend. I put this joke of an announcer on the same level as Billy “Fudge” Packer…Oh, I can’t hardly wait for him to reappear either. Can’t wait until he rips into a player for doing something that doesn’t quite meet his standards…Wonder what words of wisdom will come out of his cake hole then. A word of advice Joe, before you lay into somebody check to see if your son has done anything similar. Bet this logical way of thinking would’ve came in useful before you ripped the Toronto Argos for giving Ricky a chance, only to come to find out your son was a druggie too..

Next we welcome the old grouch to the broadcast booth in TK. What the hell does he know about Monday Night football, or better yet, when was the last time he even saw one since he is an early-to-bed fellow ? What is he going to bring to the table…This isn’t PTI’s Five Good Minutes, besides if we wanted that we know it comes on at 5:30. Sorry “Stat Boy” and Wilbon can’t help you out here old man. That’s the big question, can he survive without Wilbon? There’s no OVER/UNDER here big boy. The question is why TK? If you ask me Wilbon would’ve been a better choice. He seemed to do fine helping the broadcasts during the NBA Finals. Tony’s personality is a perfect fit at 5:30, but actually in a broadcast booth…This is far to familiar to putting Dennis Miller in the booth. Great idea that was. After all this is all it is …A glorified Dennis Miller with a little more sports knowledge. I’m still wondering whatever will Kornheiser do for the telecasts? Will he pee in his pants? Because peeing in your pants is the cooliest.

Who’s next if “The Great Cornholio” falls on his face, Jimmy Kimmel? Or perhaps Woody Paige or Skip Bayless? Now there’s a thought…Woody Paige & Monday Night Football. All Tony’s going to do is babble…Is anybody else a better babbler than good old Woody. Plus, he brings something that nobody else brings to the table…How many of us can say that we resemble a Cheeto, that’s something he can say. And get this, TK hates flying…What’s he John Madden II? ESPN got Kornheiser a bus, outfitted with a living room, a treadmill, six televisions and a bed, for short and medium hauls. Some Kornheiser Kruiser

So how will this new who knows…I guess we’ll find out soon enough. After all we are on Sunday night closer to Monday night football.
