With the loss last Saturday by the Ohio State Buckeyes, It looms on the horizon that we could see what many fans around the region would love. A bowl game pitting the Buckeyes against the West Virginia Mountaineers.
I for one would love this because I am sick and tired of hearing the WVU fans whine about we should be this and we should be that. Face it guys, just like OSU did, YOU LOST A GAME! And quit crying about the weak schedule strength of the Buckeyes. When I checked the opponents records stood as follows: WVU 62-61 OSU 69-60
Also looking at the schedule Ohio State's last four opponents are 32-12 right now (with all 4 at 8-3) while the Mountaineers are 25-14 (with two at 5-5 or less). So the Bucknuts have had a much tougher time coming down the wire than the Eers'. Much stiffer competition and more pressure on them to win because of all the national criticism from the press.
I noticed the blown call or non-call Saturday on Illinois second play and RB Daniel Dufrene broke off an 80 yard run to be run down by the Buckeyes DB around the 7 yard line. Dufrene dove for the end zone loosing the ball in mid air. The ball landed and rolled into the end zone, where it was recovered by a OSU player. The official on the side placed the ball at the 3 making no indication of a fumble or motioning the play dead. The replay official must have been asleep up there because there was no review and the Illini scored on the next play. Not making excuses but that's 7 points they really didn't score.
