The weather in Seattle today has been crappy. Really, really bad. So it got me thinking…we have that problem recently.
The Seahawks had some amazing streak of “rain-less” games until last year, when everything hit the fan. And now? Well, every time we have a night game we end up with really crappy weather and a really fun game. Don’t believe me? Here is the proof.
Date:
Monday November 6, 2006Opponent : Oakland Raiders
Headline from the Seattle PI (11/7/06): “Rains Start With Vengeance. Man Dies; Hundreds Evacuate.”
Top Stories from the Seattle PI (11/7/06): “Town of Sultan under foot of water; efforts to sandbag near Mount Vernon failing”

Top Stories from the Seattle PI (11/7/06): Nightmare for Commuters: “Snow and freezing rain left traffic jammed on I-5 and Seattle’s surface streets Monday – and more cold weather is forecast for today.”
Weather: High of 44.0 Degrees Low of 35.0 Degrees Precipitation: 0.18” (2” of snow)
Interesting Stat: Due to the weather and the football game, the evening commute for some people lasted hours. According to the Washington State Patrol a lot of the cars in the Tuesday morning commute were still trying to get home from Monday night. My boss: 16 miles in 9 hours.
Outcome: Seattle 34, Green Bay 24
Highlights of the game: Shaun Alexander : 201 yards on 40 carries

Interesting Stat: There were 15 fatalities as a result of the storm. Four were directly involved with the storm, three from fallen trees and one drowning. The other eleven were indirect fatalities after the storm, eight from carbon monoxide poisoning, two electrocutions from downed power lines, and one in a house fire started by a candle used for light. Winds were clocked at 113 mph near Mount Rainier. "We're calling it the worst storm ever - much worse than the Inaugural Day storm of 1993," Puget Sound Energy spokesperson Martha Monfried said. My Basement flooded.
Outcome: San Francisco 24, Seattle 14
Highlights of the game: Frank Gore : 29 carries for 144 yards Alex Smith : 2 Pass TDs and 1 rush TD.

Top Stories from the Seattle PI.com (11/12/07): “Retired police cars can make it easy for impostor”
Weather: High of 57.0 Degrees Low of 40.0 Degrees Wind Gusts Average: 23 MPH SW
Interesting Stat: Winds are expected to continue increasing through the day, averaging 30 to 40 mph in the city, with gusts ups to 60 mph.
So…this could go one of 2 ways…a great win or a terrible loss. But I think it is interesting that not only do we have to deal with sports traffic, but with the crappy weather.
It’s going to be fun.
