Another Myspace Uh-Oh!

Maybe Myspace.com isn't the best place to recruit star basketball players?

Kentucky self-reported a secondary NCAA violation because of postings on a potential recruit's MySpace.com website.

West Virginia high school senior basketball star Patrick Patterson reportedly had posts on his page trying to lure him into becoming a Kentucky Wildcat.

Patterson, a 6-foot-8 center, was named the West Virginia Player of the Year this year and led Huntington High to its second straight state title.

The should modify the rule. Fans can't interact with recruits on web-sites? What are we in the stone age?

How is this any different from text messaging recruits?

What are recruiters ALLOWED to do to get players to come to their college? We keep hearing about all the violations, so is there anything that is even allowed?

This story is a little incomplete. A fan tried to lure him to Kentucky, not a school sponsored recruiter.

We're only a few months away from every high school player that's even close to being good enough to playing for an NCAA school being kept in a big black bubble where they can't see anything outside. At game time they'll be let out to play, but the court will be surrounded by a two way mirror so that they can't see any fans wearing a college's paraphinalia (yeah it's spelled wrong).

I can see that the NCAA wants to protect these kids from being bribed and conned when they're making one of the biggest decisions of their life, but they have to be able to have some contact with the outside world and be a normal high school kid.

The NCAA needs to take the pole vault stick out of their collective rumps and figure out some compromises.

Ha! That is a hand-slap violation for the NCAA to deal out. Bad Wildcats! Never do that again, or else!

Yeah, that NBA early entry rule that essentially requires players to get a year of college in will work WONDERS for the NCAA recruiters, eh?

What, that rule is terrible, you can't stop fans. When Lance Thomas visited Rutgers, didn't the fans hold up signs trying to lure him to Rutgers? I am sure this happens at most schools, should that be illegal too?

Since schools aren't allowed to recruit any more without violating rules, let's just be completely ridiculous and have a draft for players out of high school. C'mon let's all be morons, since now apparently fans can't interact...hey NCAA, get a life.

Pretty much every school probably has a recruiting violation of some sort now.
