Angelo Bertelli

Angelo Bertelli (Angelo Bortolo Bertelli) was born on June 18, 1921 in West Springfield, Massachusetts. After going to high school at Cathedral (Springfield, MA), Bertelli attended the University of Notre Dame. Bertelli made his professional debut in the AAFC in 1946 with the Los Angeles Dons. He played for the Chicago Rockets and Los Angeles Dons over the course of his 3 year career.
Most people believe that 1946 was Angelo Bertelli's best year.
Angelo Bertelli was made famous by his days on the University of Notre Dame where he received the Heisman Trophy in 1943, although he only played six games for them before joining the military for World War II.
Upon returning from his service, he played professionally in the All-American Football Conference with the Los Angeles Dons and Chicago Rockets.
