Andre Dawson (Andre Nolan Dawson) was born on July 10, 1954 in Miami, Florida. He made his Major League debut on September 11, 1976 for the Montreal Expos. In 1977, his rookie year, he hit .282 with 19 home runs and 65 RBI. Dawson played for the Montreal Expos, Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox and Florida Marlins over the course of his 21 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Andre Dawson's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1987, when he slugged 49 home runs, hit for a .287 average and knocked in 137 runs. However, others believe that it was 1982, when he slugged 23 home runs, stole 39 bases, hit for a .301 average and knocked in 83 runs. Another season that some believe was Andre Dawson's best was 1983, when he slugged 32 home runs, stole 25 bases, hit for a .299 average and knocked in 113 runs.
