And You Moan About a Penalty Shootout!

My school had a very important rugby match today.
It was the last 16 of a national competition, and the school turned out in force on a muddy back field on a cold January day to witness it. The school even used it's low tech, but still presentable scorecard.
It was a really great occasion. The School Song was blasted out at half-time, and it could be heard next door at the Primary School.
It had arguably the worst conclusion ever.
With my school leading 7-0, they conceded a try late on, which was converted. 7-7. We then had two penalties. One goal attempt was from a long way out and missed. The other was very kickable, but missed. So 7-7.
We consoled ourself with the prospect of extra time. The referee blew for full-time, and the opposition started celebrating. Leaving 200 fans confused.
It transpired, that there was no extra time. Yet nobody thought to tell the fans this until after the event. So, it was drawn. What happened next?
Well, the away team went through, because they were the away team. No other reason based on skill - just because they were the away team.
After today's performance, you have no right to complain about a penalty shootout in football! At least you know what is about to happen, and even that is fairer than letting the away side win!
Stupid rule, and a stupid finale. It was made worse by the inevitable sprint for the bus as the match finished about a minute before the School Buses left... I was one of the few to make it!
