An NBA LIVE Cover Curse?

With all the hubbub surrounding the broken foot of Madden Cover Boy Shaun Alexander and the curse that appears to come with this distinction over the last couple days, has brought up several interesting questions. Appearing on any cover regardless is supposed to be one of the highest honors an individual receives. However, not one of these questions what about any other covers of EA Sports video games. Why, this company is the leader in making sports video games on a yearly basis…The realism that they put in their product year after year is surpassed by no one. In a greater attempt to promote games, as like Madden does, put highly marketable athletes on their covers. Another leading video game title in the EA Sports game line, NBA Live is the premier, top of the line, cream of the crop, professional basketball video game.
Ironically enough, the newest version of NBA Live was released just yesterday (September 25) amidst all the chatter of whether or not appearing on the cover of Madden is indeed a curse. While history has shown there’s a lot of truth to it, (now I’m a firm believer in it…Great, there goes my fantasy football season) and we hear about this every year when the newest version is released, this “Curse Talk” never really seems to be brought up for NBA Live. Is it because EA Sports doesn’t hype up the release? Maybe? Could it be EA Sports doesn’t rake in the financial benefits from this game compared to Madden? Likely? Or quite simply does an NBA LIVE Cover Curse really doesn’t exist?
It’s not like this game hasn’t been around…First it started out Celtics vs. Lakers, then we had Bulls vs. Lakers, Bulls vs. Blazers. To celebrate the original Dream Team in 1992, EA Sports came out with an International basketball game called USA Basketball, same game & concept…Just another marketing ploy, you greedy bastards! In 1995, EA Games finally figured out their basketball game needed a new & predominant name…Renaming the NBA Finals matchup was really getting old! So in 1995, EA Sports gave birth to a brand new healthy titled dubbed NBA LIVE! In all these titles there was certainly no take about any curse…The Lakers still beat the Celtics, the Bulls still beat the Lakers & Blazers respectively, and surprisingly, the original Dream Team won the gold. The good ole days, when we could play International basketball.
(Okay, for some reason when I copy & paste the rest of this piece, the thread is all CLUSERED****. So if anyone is intrigued so far, the rest can be found at the following link... http://www.lastrowsports.com/2006/09/nba-live-cover-curse-with-all-hubbub.asp) THANK YOU!
