An Idea For the Yankees

To clarify I have not heard this, this is more of an idea than anything else, but someone needs to start it, and it might as well be me.  How about the Yankees signing Aaron Rowand to play center, letting the mercurial Bobby Abreu go (saving about 16 million bucks), moving Melky Cabrera to right and leaving Damon and Matsui to play left and DH, respectively?  I mean seriously, to me Aaron Rowand is the right handed version of Paul O'Neill, and I feel as though it is no coincidence that the Yankees have not won a World Series since O'Neill retired.  Rowand has proved his worth in runs with both Chicago White Sox and Philadelphia Phillies, the Yankees need some grit, and they need it badly.  If you can couple this with a signing of Mike Lowell to play third, dumping Jason Giambi on anyone (obviously by paying most of his salary next year).  In all of this furor over A-Rod and Girardi, I think this obvious move is really being missed.  Does anyone see this as a good move?

first, they wont save $16 mil by letting abreu go, they have to pay him anywayz

second, lowell is going back to boston

third, when a team counts on aaron ruin to be the savior of the yanks, they are in trouble

finally, this is one of the stupidest things ever, what are you thinking?

Wow, you are insanely smart, the Yankees have an OPTION on Abreu for next year, they may need to pay a buyout, but I am quite sure it isn't for 16 million. Mike Lowell isn't going back to Boston unless they offer him 3 years guaranteed, which I highly doubt will happen, and did you have a girl leave you for Aaron Rowand? What hell did he ever do to you?
