In recognition of Barry Bonds hitting his 715th homerun, Roblefko presents his All-Time "Barry" and "Bonds" team (Barry Bonds, not included). To get things going, every great team needs an Ex-Met, so I will begin by taking Barry Lyons as our catcher. Lyons spent most of his career with the Mets where he served as a backup catcher to Hall of Famer Gary Carter. Moving on to second base, we find Jack Barry. Jack Barry was a member of seven penant-winning teams in 11 years, so his presence on our team as our starting second baseman is welcome. In fact, in 1917 he became a player-manager, leading the Boston Red Sox to a 90-win season and a second-place finish to the Chicago White Sox. So we will make him a player-manager as well. At shortstop, we find one of our strongest players, Barry Larkin. Larkin was a member of 12 All-Star Teams, won 3 Gold Glove Awards, and won the National League MVP in 1995.

In our outfield, we find what every team needs to be successful, some power, some youth and a veteran.

  • Veteran: Shad Barry. He'd be 127 years old right now.
  • Youth: Barry Wesson. 31 Lifetime at-bats.
  • Power: Bobby Bonds. 332 Homeruns (and 461 stolen bases, making him one of only 4 members of the 300-300 club).

Our pitchers are pretty solid, boasting 3 All-Star appearances between them (Zito in 2002-2003 and Latman in 1961).

Note: Our team has a combined 680 homeruns, which puts us in 4th place, currently 35 behind Barry. Our only active player is Barry Zito, so i dont think we are going to surpass anyone else.

I would have gone with the worst possible Barry's and Bonds' in honor of their namesake and to show how much respect I have for him.

Next somebody's gotta do an "All-Steroids Team". I only wish I were knowledgeable/bored enough to do it. :)

well, off the top of my head there's Benito Santiago/Mark McGwire/Sammy Sosa/Barry Bonds/Rafael Palmeiro. So we just need an infield and a couple of pitchers

The pitcher is a slam dunk is my premise is correct. What pitch DOMINATED the last couple of pre-drug test seasons and then almost immediately began breaking down? Eric Gagne
