All Things White Sox!

Maybe it is still the thrill that the Chicago White Sox are the World Champs and that even though they are in second place; they are still making me a stronger fan to date. The Sox just finished beating up on the first place St. Louis Cardinals with a final score of 20 - 6 with 22 hits in the inter-league play.
Another bit of good news came in for me today. I successfully succeeded in obtaining Media Credentials to an upcoming game next month. I am not sure what access I have but I believe I can get on the field during batting practice and I am allowed in the Locker room! I am sure I will be shell-shocked but if I plan well ahead, I just might pull off some taped interviews! The date is set for July 3rd against the Baltimore Orioles. The only downside is that I was trying to get my Dad in as a photographer but since I work for a radio station, I am only allowed one Pass. I went as far as to say that the pictures were going to go up on WRLR's website, and that was not a lie, but I still got denied. Between this and my Dad missing the experience of the World Series with me, I can sense some jealousy but I think the bottom line is that he is happy that I am getting to experience these rare events. Dad, I will find a way to get you in somehow. Give me time with my new network connections.
In other Press Releases today, first baseman Paul Konerko has been named American League Player of the Week. Konerko, 30, went 12-23 (.522) with two doubles, a home run, seven RBI and a .739 slugging percentage during the span. He hit his 220th home run with the White Sox on June 13 at Texas to rank one behind Harold Baines for second place on the club's all-time list.
Finally, tickets for tonight's game between the World Champion Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Cardinals were sold out. Tonight's sellout marks the 16th of the year, two short of the club record set in 2005. The White Sox have sold more than 2.68 million tickets in 2006, surpassing 1992 to become the second-highest ticket sales season in team history. The club attendance record of 2,934,154 was set in 1991, the first year of the new ballpark. From 1991 through 2003, the ballpark had an additional 6,600 seats.
