All-Time NBA Roster

by ShakersJacobson

Since I noticed that the All-Time list on this site doesn't have a lot to offer, I decided to start a series of All-Time teams for fun. Obviously this is just my opinion, and comments about who you would rather have are appreciated.

Starters

PG "Magic" Johnson - Revolutionized the point guard position. His combination of size and creativity stands alone.

SG Michael Jordan - The best player of all-time.

SF Larry Bird - The "Legend" did it all and was at his best in crunch time.

PF Bill Russell - I know he was a center, but even at his size he would still lead the league in rebounding today.

C Shaquille O'Neal - While MJ is the best player ever, Shaq is the most dominant player ever and did it against other 7-footers. That's why he gets the nod over Wilt.

Bench

PG Oscar Robertson - one of the most versatile players in history, if you can average a triple-double you're on my team.

SG Kobe Bryant - Can do things with the basketball that not even Jordan could do. Not a favorite of mine, but too great to leave off the list.

SF Jerry West - When your nickname is Mr. Clutch and the NBA logo is an outline of you, greatness is more than obvious.

PF Tim Duncan - The prototypical power forward with plenty of rings on his fingers.

C Wilt Chamberlain - Way ahead of his time with ridiculous numbers that'll never be matched.

C Kareem Abdul-Jabbar - The master of the most indefensible shot ever, his longevity makes the cut.

PG Isiah Thomas - Since I can't stand him, it was tough to add him over Stockton, Cousy, and others. But he was the complete package at the point.

Coach Red Auerbach - a little Celtics bias gets him the nod over Phil Jackson

It hurts me to add Isiah, but I truthfully think he was ridiculously good and would want the ball in his hands at the end of a game over everyone but Jordan and Bird.

Wilt HAS to be a starter. How about LeBron over Isiah?

Lebron could definitely join this list someday. One common trend with this list, RINGS. Shaq over Wilt was a tough decision. I just don't think Wilt in the 90's would've been as dominant.

First Shaq, Kobe, and Duncan do not belong. Shaq is not even a top ten center, Kobe is not a top twenty guard and Duncan is just off top ten forwards, so good players but not on this team. Next move Russell to backup center with Kareem and start Wilt. Elgin Baylor is the forward you are looking for. Move Oscar to starting lineup and Jordan to bench. The other forwards you are missing are Rick Barry, John Havelcek and Julius Erving.

Wilt, Kareem , or Bill (pick one) should be your top center. Shaq is not even better than Hakeem. And if you dont believe me watch the 95 finals when Hakeem average 35ppg and 12rbs a game AND his team went 4-0!
