All-Time Alabama Baseball Team

To my suprise I was able to squeeze out a respectable squad from the land of the Crimson Tide. Although not as loaded with superstars as some of the other states, the Alabama team still packs some power in its lineup and boasts a couple of defensive studs at shortstop and centerfield.

MANAGER
Gabby Street, (Huntsville) - No manager really stood out so I went with the only one on the list to have won a World Series. I almost went with Rudy York. He was the manager for the Red Sox for one game in 1959 (which he lost). I felt like he never really got a chance.
A few points about Team Alabama:
- Spud is a great name for a catcher. I think we need to find a current catcher to start calling Spud. Like Spud Varitek or Spud Mauer. Just a thought.
- In Mays, McCovey and Aaron this team has 3 of the top 15 home run hitters of all-time. Not too shabby.
- I know Satchel Paige's career MLB numbers aren't anything special, but I think we would all agree he was a great player. It just stinks that he didn't even make his first appearance in the majors until he was 41 years old.
- Suprisingly Jeff Brantley has more career saves than any other native Alabamian (is that a word?). Also, every team is more fun when there's a mullet involved!
- This team is also has on its bench one of the best all-around athletes of his day and hands down the greatest video game athlete ever in Bo Jackson.
