This is my roster for the top 12 players in the NBA at this very moment. No planning towards the future, this is who I would pick for one season.
Starters
PG Steve Nash - Runs the best show in the NBA today
SG Kobe Bryant - Best all-around basketball player in the World
SF LeBron James - Possibly the best combination of size and speed the NBA has ever seen.
PF Kevin Garnett - Brings a high level of intensity and creates mismatches every night.
C Tim Duncan - The most valuable player that any team could ask for.
Bench
PG Jason Kidd - Still runs an offense better than anyone not named Nash.
SG Dwyane Wade - The closest thing to Kobe when he's healthy.
SF Shawn Marion - The most versatile defender in the league and can still put the ball in the hole.
PF Dirk Nowitzki - Almost gets the starting nod over Garnett, but he disappears at times.
C Yao Ming - Was playing at a fantastic level last year before the injury.
SG Tracy McGrady - Has fallen under the radar a bit, but deserved to be in the discussion for MVP last year.
C Shaquille O'Neal - For 20 or so minutes a night, he is still a dominant force.
