Alex Taveras (Alejandro Antonio (Betances) Taveras) was born on October 9, 1955 in Santiago, Santiago (Dominican Republic). He made his Major League debut on September 9, 1976 for the Houston Astros. Taveras played for the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Dodgers over the course of his 3 year career.
