Alex Rodriguez Goes Belly Up On Monday Night

A-Rod, last year's AL MVP, got pulled out of last night's game in the 8th inning. He was 0-4, 1 K, 5 LOB and had 3, count 'em, 3, throwing errors. He fouled a ball off his foot and was pulled out by Joe Torre, citing that as the reason and not Rodriguez's lack of production that night. Convenient eh? A-Rod was booed heavily by New York Yankees' fans, but that seems to be the norm nowadays.

Being the highest paid player makes him a lightning rod for criticism. No one else is called out for their salary in the same way. You don't hear anyone bringing up Jeter's 189 million dollar contract. I love Jeter, but does his numbers really warrant 189 mil?
