Alex Metzler (Alexander Metzler) was born on January 4, 1903 in Fresno, California. He made his Major League debut on September 16, 1925 for the Chicago Cubs. In 1927, his rookie year, he hit .319 with 3 home runs and 61 RBI. Metzler played for the Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Athletics, Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Browns over the course of his 6 year career.

Most people believe that Alex Metzler's best season was 1927, when he hit for a .319 average and knocked in 61 runs.
