Alex McKinnon (Alexander J. McKinnon) was born on August 14, 1856 in Boston, Massachusetts. He made his Major League debut on May 1, 1884 for the New York Gothams. In 1884, his rookie year, he hit .272 with 4 home runs and 73 RBI. McKinnon played for the New York Gothams, St. Louis Maroons and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 4 year career.
Most people believe that Alex McKinnon's best season was 1886, when he hit for a .301 average and knocked in 72 runs.
