Born on August 26, 1924 in Tucson, Arizona, Alex Kellner (Alexander Raymond Kellner) played for the Philadelphia Athletics, Kansas City Athletics, Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 12 year career. Kellner broke into the bigs on April 29, 1948 with the Philadelphia Athletics, and put up a 3.75 ERA in 245 innings pitched in 1949, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Alex Kellner's best season was 1949, when he posted a 3.75 ERA, won 20 games and struck out 94 batters.
