Born on July 24, 1912 in Caracas, Distrito Federal (Venezuela), Alex Carrasquel (Alejandro Eloy (Aparicio) Carrasquel) played for the Washington Senators and Chicago White Sox over the course of his 8 year career. Carrasquel broke into the bigs on April 23, 1939 with the Washington Senators, and put up a 4.69 ERA in 159.1 innings pitched in 1939, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Alex Carrasquel's best season was 1943, when he posted a 3.68 ERA and won 11 games.
