[edit] Biography

Born on June 25, 1959 in Cambiaso, Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic), Alejandro Pena (Alejandro (Vasquez) Pena) played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, Pittsburgh Pirates, Florida Marlins and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 15 year career. Pena broke into the bigs on August 13, 1981 with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and put up a 2.75 ERA in 177 innings pitched in 1983, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Alejandro Pena's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1991, when he posted a 2.40 ERA, notched 15 saves and struck out 62 batters. However, others believe that it was 1988, when he posted a 1.91 ERA, notched 12 saves and struck out 83 batters. Another season that some believe was Alejandro Pena's best was 1984, when he posted a 2.48 ERA, won 12 games and struck out 135 batters.
