Born on December 8, 1956 in Mesa, Arizona, Alan Wirth (Alan Lee Wirth) played for the Oakland Athletics for his entire 3 year career. Wirth broke into the bigs on April 9, 1978 with the Oakland Athletics, and put up a 3.43 ERA in 81.1 innings pitched in 1978, his rookie year.
