Alan Ashby (Alan Dean Ashby) was born on July 8, 1951 in Long Beach, California. He made his Major League debut on July 3, 1973 for the Cleveland Indians. In 1975, his rookie year, he hit .224 with 5 home runs and 32 RBI. Ashby played for the Cleveland Indians, Toronto Blue Jays and Houston Astros over the course of his 17 year career.

Most people believe that Alan Ashby's best season was 1987, when he hit for a .288 average and knocked in 63 runs.
