Alabama Week: Bama Fans Come Down Off the High Horse

I cannot put my finger on it, but there is a definite reason to dislike Alabama Crimson Tide football. Ask almost anyone in the West about other division schools and you'll discover some similar responses:

Arkansas - "They aren't true SEC, hog call is annoying and they just don't fit in."

Auburn - "It's amazing what Tubberville has done, and they play so well. We don't root for them, but we respect their program."

LSU - "What a crazy group of fans, great athletes - maybe the best homegrown in the country."

Mississippi - "I love the Grove, the team seems to play hard but aren't generally much of a factor."

Mississippi State - "Man those cow bells need to be enforced, Starkville isn't a very impressive place but it's hard to hate a program that's been down so long."

Alabama - "They have the most arrogant fans who don't seem to realize they aren't the Bama of old. Someone needs to wake them up."

Personally, Alabama is the team I like most for the Hogs to beat in the SEC race. It's almost always a great game when these two match up and is a real slugfest. What also makes this series fun is that the winner of this game, Arkansas vs. Alabama, almost always winds up having a good year and the loser almost always goes into the tank. Go back, look it up and you'll see it is true. This game is a springboard or a pitfall foreboding the rest of the year for these teams.

Have you ever worked or gone to school with someone who walked around acting superior to everyone else, considering thmeselves above the level of those around them - for no determinible reason? That's Alabama. Their fans are obnoxious, they think Tide boxes and toilet paper is clever and play a startling boring brand of football. Their best coach over the past several years has been Defensive Coordinator Joe Kines.

Bama fans think the world revolves around them. They are a blip on the radar nowadays but the Bammers haven't figured that out. LSU and Auburn are top tier in the SEC West.

Bama, you're down here with the rest of us, get over yourself.

the Hogs are the team to beat in the SEC, and the reason they are not true SEC is because they spent most of their years dominating the old Southwest Conference, and came to the SEC for some decent competition. It took a while, but Arkansas has arrived. First they downed Alabama, now Auburn. Next: the BCS.
