Al Wingo (Absalom Holbrook Wingo) was born on May 6, 1898 in Norcross, Georgia. He made his Major League debut on September 9, 1919 for the Philadelphia Athletics. In 1924, his rookie year, he hit .287 with 1 home run and 26 RBI. Wingo played for the Philadelphia Athletics and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 6 year career.

Most people believe that Al Wingo's best season was 1925, when he hit for a .370 average and knocked in 68 runs.
