Al Unser (Albert Bernard Unser) was born on October 12, 1912 in Morrisonville, Illinois. He made his Major League debut on September 14, 1942 for the Detroit Tigers. In 1945, his rookie year, he hit .265 with 3 home runs and 21 RBI. Unser played for the Detroit Tigers and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 4 year career.
