Al Spohrer (Alfred Ray Spohrer) was born on December 3, 1902 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on April 13, 1928 for the New York Giants. In 1929, his rookie year, he hit .272 with 2 home runs and 48 RBI. Spohrer played for the New York Giants and Boston Braves over the course of his 8 year career.

Most people believe that Al Spohrer's best season was 1930, when he hit for a .317 average.
