Al Sparkman (Alan Temple Sparkman) was born on February 17, 1926 in Baltimore, Maryland. After going to high school at Thomas Jefferson (San Antonio, TX), Sparkman attended Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University. Sparkman made his professional debut in the NFL in 1948 with the Los Angeles Rams. He played for the Los Angeles Rams for his entire 2 year career.

Most people believe that 1949 was Al Sparkman's best year.
