Al Oliver (Albert Oliver) was born on October 14, 1946 in Portsmouth, Ohio. He made his Major League debut on September 23, 1968 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1969, his rookie year, he hit .285 with 17 home runs and 70 RBI. Oliver played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Texas Rangers, Montreal Expos, San Francisco Giants, Philadelphia Phillies, Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers over the course of his 18 year career.

Most people believe that Al Oliver's best season was 1980, when he slugged 19 home runs, hit for a .319 average and knocked in 117 runs.
