Born on May 30, 1894 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Al Mamaux (Albert Leon Mamaux) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Brooklyn Robins and New York Yankees over the course of his 12 year career. Mamaux broke into the bigs on September 23, 1913 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 1.71 ERA in 63 innings pitched in 1914, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Al Mamaux's best season was 1915, when he posted a 2.04 ERA, won 21 games and struck out 152 batters.
