Al Kanya (Albert Joseph Kanya) was born on March 7, 1908. After going to high school at Henry P. Becton (East Rutherford, NJ), Kanya attended Syracuse University. Kanya made his professional debut in the NFL in 1931 with the Staten Island Stapletons. He played for the Staten Island Stapletons for his entire 2 year career.
